Scope and Content Note

This series consists of three volumes containing copies of outgoing letters. The first volume contains fair copies of letters from the agent and warden of Clinton State Prison addressed to State Prison inspectors and other state officials, and to members of the public. The letters concern the administration of the prison, the maintenance of the prisoners, and the mining and manufacture of iron. The second volume contains press copies of manuscript and typescript letters of the agent and warden between January and September 1892, mostly on routine operations of the prison. The third volume contains carbon copies of typewritten letters of the agent and warden between December 1911 and March 1912.
