Scope and Content Note

These volumes provide access to the consecutive numbers of incarcerated individuals at Elmira. The consecutive number was the number given at the time of admission to the reformatory.

For each incarcerated individual, the volumes include last name, first name, and consecutive number. Volumes 1-6, covering roughly the first 31,000 consecutive numbers, are not clearly labeled and contain considerable overlap of information. Other volumes are clearly labeled, covering consecutive numbers 25,000 and above.

B0139-01: This series consists of a single volume consisting of incarcerated individuals' last names, first names, and consecutive numbers from July 24, 1876 through October 27, 1900, and consecutive numbers 1-9,999. While information in this volume overlaps considerably with earlier accretions, it appears to have been compiled at a later date.

Processing Information
