This series consists of correspondence directed mainly to the State Engineer and Surveyor's office. Most correspondence contains requests for employment or applications or letters of endorsements. The series was compiled approximately at the time it became apparent that the state would construct the Barge Canal.

The series was compiled approximately at the time it became apparent that the state would construct the Barge Canal (Chapter 147, Laws of 1903).
