Scope and Content Note

This series consists of correspondence, memorandums, reports, transcripts of hearings, and press releases generated by the office of Industrial Commissioner Louis L. Levine during its arbitration of labor disputes in New York State. The following disputes are documented by the files: a dispute between the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes of New York and Local 1199, Drug and Hospital Union, AFL-CIO; a dispute between Long Island College Hospital and Local 144, Hotel and Allied Employees Union, Building Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO; and a dispute between St. Elizabeth's Hospital/St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center and the New York State Nurses Association. The bulk of the series spans 1964-1966, and consists of correspondence and transcripts of hearings ("minutes") before a Fact-Finding Commission in the labor disputes.
