Summary:
This series documents the state's acquisition of real property for the Barge Canal system, pursuant to Laws of 1903, Chapter 147, as amended. Scope and Content Note

This series consists of depositions sworn to by employees of the Department of Public Works stating that the deponent had personally served notices of appropriation, along with maps and description of property appropriated for Barge Canal purposes, upon the reputed owners of said property. Depositions provide name and title of deponent; contract number; names of reputed property owners; map number; town and county in which property was located; date notice was served; date duplicates of notices and accompanying maps and property description were filed in county clerk's office; date deposition was given and signature of notary public; signature of deponent; and date and effective date of notice to vacate, if applicable.
