Scope and Content Note

This series consists of certified final accounts for the construction and repair of canals in the Western Division of New York State's canal system. Canals represented in this series include but are not limited to the Erie; Black River; Oswego; Champlain; and Genesee Valley. Information provided in the final accounts includes the name of contracting firm; date of contract; description of the project; authorizing legislation; itemized list of items purchased, or services performed; quantities and cost of materials; partial payments made to the contractor by the Superintendent of Public Works; and explanations regarding extra work being done.
