Administrative History
State War Service scholarships were established in 1944 for armed services veterans of World War I and II. Awards were made on the basis of a competitive examination. Recipients could use their scholarships at any college, university, business, professional, vocational, technical, or trade school in New York State. The scholarships were discontinued in 1960.

Competitive examinations were held for this scholarship.
Each examination list provides the following information: city where examination was held; candidates' names; and total scores. The lists are annotated to indicate candidates who withdrew from the competition.
