Administrative History

In 1960 the State Legislature abolished the Classification and Compensation Appeals Board (C.C.A.B.).

The Board's powers to hear appeals from the Classification and Compensation Division (C.C.D.) Director's decisions on salary reallocation and position reclassification were transferred to the Civil Service Commission.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of the Commission's case files for classification and compensation appeals.

Recorded on the outside of each file folder are the appeal's title (including the positions affected), changes requested, date the appeal was sustained or dismissed, and the date the C.C.D.'s file was returned.

Files contain all or most of the following: appeals application form(s), appellant's written argument for reallocation or reclassification, Executive Office recommendations, Commission staff's and C.C.D. Director's memoranda, position descriptions, documentary evidence and briefs, and correspondence. The positions of the Appellant, C.C.D., and the Commission's decision are fully documented in a case file, which also contains detailed information on State positions. This series continues C.C.A.B. Appeals Case files and contains similar data. The Commission's Case files, however, contain more supporting documentation (i.e. exhibits and memoranda than C.C.A.B.'s case files.
