Summary:
The Commissioner's Committee on Museum Resources was established to study museum needs statewide and the feasibility of and requirements for state aid to museums. Questionnaires were sent to museums requesting information on educational services performed. This series consists of meeting minutes, reports, statistical tabulations, mailing lists, and working papers relating to the committee. Statistical tabulations from the questionnaires are included, but not the questionnaires themselves.

Scope and Content Note

Minutes of meetings, reports (including drafts), statistical tabulations, mailing lists, and working papers relating to the Commissioner's Committee on Museum Resources, meetings of which were attended by the assistant commissioner as a representative of the Education Department.

The Committee was established by the Commissioner of Education in 1961 to study statewide museum needs and the feasibility of and requirements for state aid to museums. Questionnaires were sent to museums around the state requesting information on educational services performed. Included in the records are tabulations of statistics from these questionnaries, but not the actual questionnaries.
