Scope and Content Note

This series consists of two copies of notices to contractors, explanations, blank contracts, specifications, and blank certificates exhibited at the lettings at Rochester and Clyde, New York, on October 19 and November 15 and 19, 1850. The documents were received for proposed construction work on the Erie Canal enlargement for Section No. 22 at Brockport, Section No. 231 at Newark, Section No. 219 at Lyons, and part of Section No. 212 at Clyde.

The series also includes propositions for the work. They are in chart form and document proposed construction work through each village along the route, with the following information: item, quantity, number and name of bidder submitting the estimate, and price per item. Amounts are totaled at the bottom of the entry for each bidder.
