Scope and Content Note

This series is an engineer's book containing mathematical formulas, geometric drawings, design specifications, and costing methods. Included in the volume are designs, plans, and calculations for engines, earth work, bridges, steamers, and a frame house; calculations regarding the 1865 flood of the Genesee River; drawings and plans for road and farm bridges over canals, including the Black River Canal; and a table of cut and fill calculations. The first page of the volume is labelled "O.W. Nichols Pittsford Monroe Co. N.Y. Jan. 1869." A very rough alphabetical subject index is found at the back of the volume.
