Scope and Content Note

This series consists of printed forms of proposals for work to be done on the Middle Division of the Erie Canal, which ran from Cayuga County to eastern Oneida County. The forms contain tables that include approximate quantities and types of material; measurements; the amount of deposit required; description of the type of work being done (e.g. lining, slope wall, masonry, or timber work); itemized costs; and total cost of the project. Proposals also include a contract that indicates the town or village and the county in which the work is taking place and contains signatures of officials approving the project.
