Scope and Content Note
This series consists of microfilm of copies of plans of school buildings submitted by school districts (except certain city districts) to the department. Submission of building plans to the commissioner of education for approval prior to any new construction, repair, enlargement, or remodeling of school buildings is required by law.
The following kinds of plans are in this series: plot plan; framing plan; and floor plan. Some plans also include elevations. For a particular alteration or addition there may be one or several plans, usually numbered. The first map in each set is marked with the Education Department's code number for the school. Most plans are stamped with date approved by the commissioner.
Custodial History
This series was originally transferred to the NYSL, then transferred to the State Archives as old series number 222, accession number -232.
