Scope and Content Note
The function of the cashbook was to provide an on-going record of the prison's income, expenditures, and cash balance from September 2, 1889 to September 30, 1892. The funds relate principally to various prison industries. The volume's pages are paired with the left page containing entries for cash receipts, deposits, and balances and the right page containing entries for cash disbursements. Entries on both pages are made under various prison accounts (i.e., Brass, Broom, Chair, Iron Castings, etc.). Both pages contain balances which are carried over to the next set of pages.
