Scope and Content Note

This series documents expenditures of the State Prison for Women for several years: October 1898 to September 1899; October 1903 to September 1904; and October 1909 to September 1910. Categories of expenditure include Salaries of Prison Officers, Rations, Clothing and Bedding, Discharge and Transportation of Convicts, Repairs, etc.

For each expenditure, the ledger lists the date of entry, name of individual or company receiving payment, a description of goods or services paid for, and the amount paid. The front of the volumes also include recapitulation or monthly prison receipts and expenditures.
