Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a one-volume record compiled in March 1873. The bulk of the volume consists of a 129-page inventory apparently listing every piece of furniture, equipment, and property located at Clinton Prison. The inventory is arranged by location of items (e.g., Clerk's Office, Foundry, Prison Hall, Hospital).
The inventory lists each item (cupboard, blanket, saw, etc.), the quantity of each item, and estimated value of each item. The value of items are totaled on each page, at the end of each section, and at the end of the inventory.
The remaining 20 pages of the volume consist of lists with information on prison finances during 1871-1873, usually relating to prison debt. These lists usually include names of individuals, amounts owed, and references to pages in a journal or schedule relating to the various accounts. The information listed relates to the following prison accounts: Amount Due Clinton Prison; Bad Debts; Doubtful Debts; Recapitulation; and Profit and Loss Account.
