Scope and Content Note

The series consists of a group of legal papers all apparently relating in some way to agreements with railroad companies. Included are deeds, abstracts, indentures, abstracts of title, and various contracts and other papers covering modifications to easements and other agreements to which railroad companies were a party. The reason for these papers being gathered together is unknown.

Records include: agreements to which the New York Central Railroad was a party, involving easement rights including pipe, grade, and wire crossings (1911-1962); memoranda and agreements relating to deeds of sale for land parcels in Westchester and Wayne counties (ca. 1882); and deeds, abstracts, and other papers to which railroads are party (ca. 1850s and thereafter), including the Buffalo, Corning and New York Railroad Company, the Buffalo and Cohocton Valley Railway Company, the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad Company, the New York, Ontario and Western Railway Company, the Erie Railroad Company, and the Ellenville and Kingston Railroad Company.
