Scope and Content Note

This series provides the certificate number and name of those granted a variety of teaching certificates by the Education Department based on teacher training, previous experience, examination, and post-secondary education. Only the name of the person granted the certificate is given. However beginning in 1931, for those granted the "College Graduate Life" certificate, the name of the college attended, degree (and year) earned, previous certificate type held, and name of school district where employed are also provided.

B1438-97: This accretion consists of certificate indexes (1940-1959) and an earlier single volume listing only certificates issued for college graduates (1918-1926). This latter volume lists name, certificate number, municipality of residence, college attended, year and degree, and date certificate issued. Certificates are listed in the categories of life, provisional, permanent, and limited.
