Summary:
This series consists of registers or lists of summary information. Included are lists of towns to which state publications were delivered; pardons issued and delivered, listing slaves and their owners, other blacks, by name; patents delivered, after recording; receipts by counties of state official standard of long measure, documenting that some counties did not pick up their official yardstick until thirty years after issue date; and deeds, mortgages, releases, quit claims, and other instruments received for recording and delivered.

Scope and Content Note

The series consists of registers or lists containing summary information. Included are lists of towns to which state publications were delivered (1804-1821); pardons issued and delivered, listing slaves and their owners, other blacks, by name (1805-1807); patents delivered, after recording (1795-1826); receipts by counties of state official standard of long measure (1809-1939), documenting that some counties did not pick up their official yardstick until thirty years after it was issued; and deeds, mortgages, releases, quit claims, and other instruments which were received for recording and delivered (ca. 1800-1823).

Custodial History

This volume was originally accessioned in 1978 as volume 10 of series A0321, Distribution Lists of State Publications. The volume was culled to form a separate series by State Archives staff in June 1996.
