Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a variety of admission, transfer, discharge, and parole reports for mental defectives at the New York State Reformatory for Women. The reports are intermittent throughout the span dates and vary in format, content, and interval covered.
The bulk of the series consists of parole reports which typically include brief narratives giving inmate number; current whereabouts; social and mental history; current living and social conditions; progress made in behavior; and likelihood of recommendation of discharge or return. Some statistical information for total parole is also included. Other information includes total numbers of mental defectives in custody, names of mental defectives transferrred, and summary reports with names of women transferred, discharged, and dead.
