Scope and Content Note

This series consists of one bound volume detailing monthly expenditures for Section No. 2 of the Champlain Canal. While information recorded in the volume remains consistent over time, format varies slightly. During the years 1839 through 1842 itemized expenditures are listed for various canal structures. During 1842 to 1844 names of employees and wages paid are occasionally recorded. No reports exist for 1845 to 1848. Names of employees, services performed, hours worked, and wages paid are noted in detail for 1849-1854. Information for these years was recorded by Alonzo Morgan, Superintendent for Expenditures.

Custodial History

This series was transferred to the State Archives from the State Library in November 2000 and accessioned by the Archives in July 2001.
