Biographical Sketch

Chapter 501 of the Laws of 1935 created within the State Education Department a state Board of Podiatry Examiners for the purpose of examining applicants for licenses to practice podiatry. The board consisted of five members, appointed by the Board of Regents upon the recommendation of the commissioner of education. All members were required to be licensed podiatrists and to have been engaged in the practice of podiatry for at least ten years.

This single volume contains the minutes of seventy meetings of the Board of Podiatry Examiners held between June 26, 1935 and February 6, 1950. The number, date, venue, and attendees of each meeting are clearly identified at the beginning of each set of minutes. Examples of matters discussed include the board's governing rules and membership; examination practices; results of recently held examinations; applications for endorsement received from podiatrists licensed in other states; proposed legislation; standards of professional conduct and specific allegations of misconduct; standards in professional advertising; and terminology used within the profession.
