Scope and Content Note
This series documents the State Comptroller's role in administering accounts of the State, paying bills and payrolls, and auditing records, accounts, and financial and management practices of State agencies. The Office of the State Comptroller used this material in exhibitions to highlight key agency functions. Documents in the series include indentures, contracts, published reports and pamphlets analyzing audit functions and interpreting cases and contracts, examples of contracts and vouchers, and accounts and appropriation ledgers from the Dept. of Public Works and the Prison Dept.

Custodial History
This series was transferred to the State Archives in September 2001 and accessioned in March 2002. Two volumes that were part of the transfer were accessioned separately as B0921-02, Abstracts and vouchers for Barge Canal and terminal expenses, 1922-1923.
