This series consists of ca. 2600 index cards apparently related to Comptroller's canal records transferred from the New York State Library in the late 1970s. The records indexed by the cards were subsequently divided into separate series rendering the index obsolete.

Custodial History

The index was most likely transferred by the State Library to the State Archives in 1977 but somehow became alienated from the initial transfer. The index was subsequently identified and accessioned by State Archives staff in 2005 as part of a project to integrate or describe estrayed or unidentified records.
