Biographical Sketch
The Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness was created by Executive Order No. 11 by Governor Eliot Spitzer, on April 23, 2007. The commission, which consisted of fifteen members appointed by the Governor, was charged with studying the structure and operations of New York local government; reducing costs and improving the effectiveness of local government operations; and reforming election laws and procedures. The commission issued its final report, entitled "21st Century Local Government," in April 2008.
