Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites created by the Office for the Aging.

B2042-06: This accretion consists of archival copies of five Office of the Aging Web sites produced shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. The main Office for the Aging site (copied December 20, 2006) contains information about grant programs for providers of services to older New Yorkers, studies and initiatives focusing on the current and future needs of older New Yorkers, and resources for older New Yorkers and their families.

The Aging Well site (copied December 20, 2006) provides food safety, fitness, and other information for independent senior citizens. The other sites concern specific subjects or programs of interest to older New Yorkers and their families: Adult Immunization Campaign (copied December 22, 2006), Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance (copied December 20, 2006), and Your Guide to Senior Housing (copied December 20, 2006).

B2042-08: This accretion consists of archival copies of five Office of the Aging sites produced shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). Most of the information in the April 22, 2008 copy of the main Office for the Aging site is also included in the December 20, 2006 copy, but this copy includes newsletters (2007-2008) and press releases (2007-2008) issued by the office.

This accretion also includes copies of the office's Aging Well (copied April 22, 2008), Adult Immunization Campaign (copied April 22, 2008), Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance (copied April 22, 2008), and Your Guide to Senior Housing (copied April 22, 2008). All of these sites were removed from the live Web some time after they were copied.

B2042-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of the Aging site produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the history and organization of the office, grant programs for providers of services to older New Yorkers, studies and initiatives relating to the current and future needs of older New Yorkers, and resources for older New Yorkers and their families. It also includes newsletters (2007-2009), a statewide listing of county offices, a senior citizen resource guide (English and Spanish), and press releases (2007-2010) issued by the office.

This accretion also includes a January 13, 2011 copy of the office's YouTube channel. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly.

B2042-15: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office for the Aging site produced on February 9, 2015, shortly after Governor Andrew Cuomo (2011- ) completed his first term of office. Some of the information it contains is also present in other copies of the site, buy this copy includes press releases (2011-2015), guidance documents (2012), information about contracts and procurements, a statewide listing of county offices, a senior citizen resource guide (2012), and information about the civil rights of senior citizens.

This accretion also includes copies of two other sites maintained by the Office for the Aging as of January 2015. The NY Connects site (copied February 17, 2015) contains information about various long-term care services and programs and a list of local NY Connects programs. It also includes a brochure in English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Italian, Korean, and Russian. This site was removed from the live Web some time after it was copied.

The office's Twitter feed (copied February 6, 2015) contains information about news and events relating to Office for the Aging. Researchers should note that, owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology and the structure of the live page, most of its content could not be captured properly.

B2042-19: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office for the Aging site produced on January 13, 2020. It contains press releases (2019), the office's strategic Plan on Aging 2019-2023, and publications and information about housing, health insurance, transportation, long-term care, elder abuse, and other matters of interest to older New Yorkers and their families. Also present is information about the statewide Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, which advocates on behalf of people who reside in nursing homes and other care facilities, and forms and information for organizations that provide state or federally funded health care or social services to older New Yorkers.
