Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

B2068-06: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission on Judicial Conduct site produced on December 22, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the commission's history, mandate, and members, press releases (2005-2006); annual reports (2005-2006), and the commission's decisions (1978-2006) concerning the conduct of individual judges and justices. Also included are policy statements (2002-2003, 2006) concerning judicial campaign speech, delegation of authority to court attorneys and other non-judges, fiduciary appointments such as guardianship, suspension of judges, and reform of town and village courts.

B2068-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission on Judicial Conduct site produced on May 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). Most of the information found within this copy is also included in the December 22, 2006 copy of the site, but newer press releases (2006-2008), and commission decisions (1978-2008) concerning the conduct of individual judges and justices have been added. Also included is an additional policy statement concerning judicial compensation.

B2068-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission on Judicial Conduct site produced on December 27, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. Most of the information found within this copy is included in older copies, but newer press releases (2008-2010), annual reports (2008-2010), and decisions (2009-2010) and appealed decisions (1979-2003) concerning the conduct of individual judges and justices. Also included are an updated policy manual (2010) and rules of judicial conduct.

B2068-15: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct site produced on February 9, 2015, shortly after Governor Andrew Cuomo (2011- ) completed his first term of office. Most of the information found within this copy is also present in older copies, but this copy contains additional press releases (2008-2015), annual reports (1975-2014), decisions (1978-2014) and appealed decisions (1979-2014). Public hearings (1980-2012), a report concerning judicial license plates (2013), a report (2012) detailing the commission's investigation of Presiding Justice Luis A. Gonzalez. An updated policy manual (2013) and additional policy statements concerning statements made by judicial candidates during election campaigns, mandatory financial disclosures, and improper use of court letterhead are also present.

B2068-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission on Judicial Conduct site produced on January 22, 2020. It contains additional press releases (2008-2020), annual reports (1975-2019), and decisions and appealed decisions (1977-2019). Also included are an updated policy manual (2018) and newer policy statements concerning ethics training for judicial candidates, mandatory financial disclosures for judges, enhanced training for town and village court judges, social media usage, charitable fundraising, impermissible letters of reference or recommendation. and the commission's limited ability to suspend judges and hold public hearings.
