Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

B2080-07: This accretion contains a copy of the DCJS site produced on December 26, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It includes annual reports (1997-2001), studies (1996-2005) concerning domestic violence, hate crimes, forensic services, juvenile justice, missing children, and other topics, and information about training programs, accreditation, and grants programs for state and local criminal justice agencies. It also contains forms, instructions, and other materials relating to state and federal reporting of crime statistics and reports (2007) concerning the agency's Crimestat system, which assesses the effectiveness of state and local criminal justice agencies. Also included are forms, overviews, and detailed information about the state's sex offender and missing children registries and child safety programs.

B2080-08: This accretion contains a copy of the main DCJS Web site produced on May 14, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It includes press releases (2007-2008), annual reports (1997-2001), studies (1996-2007) concerning domestic violence, hate crimes, forensic services, juvenile justice, missing children, and other topics, and information about training programs, accreditation, and grants programs for state and local criminal justice agencies. It also contains forms, instructions, and other materials relating to state and federal reporting of crime statistics and reports (2007) concerning the agency's Crimestat system. Also included are forms, overviews, and detailed information about the state's sex offender and missing children registries and child safety programs. Other materials include an overview of the state's human trafficking law, Internet safety resources, and meeting transcripts, public hearing transcripts, written testimony, and a preliminary report (2007) compiled by the State Commission on Sentencing Reform.

B2080-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Criminal Justice Services Web site produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It includes newer press releases (2007-2010), annual reports (2007-2010), studies (1996-2010) concerning domestic violence, hate crimes, forensic services, juvenile justice, missing children, and other topics, and information about training programs, accreditation, and grants programs for state and local criminal justice agencies. It also contains forms, instructions, and other materials relating to state and federal reporting of crime statistics and reports concerning the agency's Crimestat system. Also included are forms, overviews, and detailed information about the state's sex offender and missing children registries and child safety programs. Other materials include an overview of the state's human trafficking law, Internet safety resources, a statewide directory of criminal justice agencies and division meeting agendas (2010).

B2080-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Criminal Justice Services site produced on February 18, 2020. It contains newer press releases (2015-2019), and annual reports concerning a wide array of criminal offenses, among them domestic homicide (2014-2018), hate crimes (2014-2018), missing persons (1990-2018), and motor vehicle theft. It also includes statistical data and reports (2019) concerning crime and victimization, adult and juvenile arrests, demographics of the juvenile and adult arrestee and offender populations, the number of law enforcement personnel employed by local police departments, and other topics. Information for New York residents seeking to report missing persons, obtain criminal history files, and receive assistance in the wake of a crime is also present. Information for law enforcement officers and agencies concerns training programs for police officers and security guards; sexual offense evidence kits; and forms, publications, recorded webinars, and other resources relating to reporting of crime data, fingerprint processing, and forensic evidence services. Three videos of ceremonies honoring law enforcement officers are also present.

Information relating to the division's Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, which formerly maintained its own website, includes the state's annual probation plan (2019-2020), the rules, regulations, standards, and procedures governing the probation system, newsletters (2015-2019), a directory of county probation departments, and information about specialized projects relating to probationers with mental illness, probationers convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence, employment, and collection of DNA samples from probationers.
