Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible Web site of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

B2080-07: This accretion contains a copy of the DCJS site produced on December 26, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It includes annual reports (1997-2001); studies (1996-2005) concerning domestic violence, hate crimes, forensic services, juvenile justice, missing children, and other topics; and information about training programs, accreditation, and grants programs for state and local criminal justice agencies. It also contains forms, instructions, and other materials relating to state and federal reporting of crime statistics and reports (2007) concerning the agency's Crimestat system, which assesses the effectiveness of state and local criminal justice agencies. Also included are forms, overviews, and detailed information about the state's sex offender and missing children registries and child safety programs.

B2080-08: This accretion contains a copy of the main DCJS Web site produced on May 14, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It includes press releases (2007-2008); annual reports (1997-2001); studies (1996-2007) concerning domestic violence, hate crimes, forensic services, juvenile justice, missing children, and other topics; and information about training programs, accreditation, and grants programs for state and local criminal justice agencies. It also contains forms, instructions, and other materials relating to state and federal reporting of crime statistics and reports (2007) concerning the agency's Crimestat system, which assesses the effectiveness of state and local criminal justice agencies.

Also included are forms, overviews, and detailed information about the state's sex offender and missing children registries and child safety programs. Other materials include an overview of the state's human trafficking law; Internet safety resources; and meeting transcripts, public hearing transcripts, written testimony, and a preliminary report (2007) compiled by the State Commission on Sentencing Reform.

Researchers should note that the navigational links on the left side of most pages do not work properly; however, the links at the top of the home page provide access to the same content.
