Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible Web sites of the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation. Researchers should note that, owing to the site's size and the limitations of Web archiving technology, efforts to copy this site prior to mid-2008 were not successful.

B2088-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Department of Environmental Conservation Web site produced on May 9, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the authority's mission and organizational structure, press releases (2004-2008), newsletters (2003-2008), and permits and licensing information (1994-2008). Also included are reports and publications covering a wide range of topics including outdoor recreation, conservation of animals and plants, pollution control, environmental education, renewable energy, environmental regulations and enforcement.

Researchers should note that owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the layout of the archived site differs from that of the live site. Links and menu items are not presented in the same fashion as on the live site, and attempting to use the search function will redirect users to the live version of the site.

B2088-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Department of Environmental Conservation Web site produced on December 28, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office.
