Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the New York State Office of Emergency Management and its predecessor entity, the State Emergency Management Office, which was merged into the new State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services in June 2010.

B2129-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the State Emergency Management Office Web site produced on December 29, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains press releases (2002-2006), a sample county government emergency management plan, and information about training, disaster assistance, mitigation, and recovery programs, and federal grant opportunities for local governments. Information about assistance to victims of June and November 2006 storms and floods and October 2006 lake-effect snowstorms and seasonal preparedness tips for citizens are also included.

Researchers should note that some of the information within this copy can be accessed only via the "Site Map" link at the bottom of each page and that some pages automatically display the current date, not the date the site was copied.

B2129-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the State Emergency Management Office Web site produced on August 22, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains press releases (2002-2008), a sample county government emergency management plan, and information about training, disaster assistance, mitigation, and recovery programs, and federal grant opportunities for local governments. Seasonal preparedness tips for citizens, information about the state's multi-agency Disaster Preparedness Commission, and presentations delivered at a 2008 Flood Summit are also included.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, much of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly. Researchers should also note that some of the information within this copy can be accessed only via the "Site Map" link at the bottom of each page and that some pages automatically display the current date, not the date the site was copied.

B2129-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of Emergency Management Web site produced on December 28, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office.

This accretion also includes a January 13, 2011 copy of the office's Twitter page site.
