Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the New York State Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment, which conducts research projects relating to the application of federal census and other statistical information to the process of reapportioning State Senate, State Assembly, and U.S. House of Representatives districts. Researchers should note that this site was offline in 2008, when Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008) resigned from office. As a result, it was not captured at that time.

B2132-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment site produced on April 12, 2007, shortly after Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the task force's mission and organizational structure and information about how to purchase copies of census data and publications. Researchers should note the links that appear on the left side of each page work properly only on the home page. To navigate through the site, use the Web browser's Back button to return to the home page, then click on the desired link.

B2132-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment Web site produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office.

It contains information about the task force's mission and organizational structure; transcripts of public meetings (2001); congressional, state assembly, and senate district maps (1992, 2002); and voter and enrollment (1996, 1998, 2000), as well as federal census (2000) data broken down by counties.

Researchers should note that the Census and voter data files have been compressed using WinZip software and will require software that can unzip the files to view them. Researchers should also note that, owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology, the streaming videos on the site could not be captured properly.

B2132-16: This accretion consists of a copy of the Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment site produced on December 27, 2016. The content of this copy is virtually identical to that of the December 20, 2010 copy.

B132-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment site produced on March 2, 2020. Its content is identical to that of the December 27, 2016 copy.
