Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs.

B2141-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Military and Naval Affairs site produced on December 23, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the history, leadership, and mission of the division and the missions and facilities of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, New York Guard, and Naval Militia units. It also includes information about educational and other benefits for National Guard enlistees; awards and decorations; funeral honors for veterans; employment and contracting opportunities; and copies of "Guard Times" magazine (2001-2006).

Visitor information and online exhibits, unit histories, research resources, and other materials created by the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center are also present. Researchers should note that the Military Museum section of the site can be accessed only by scrolling down the list of options in the "Also Inside" section of the site's home page. Researchers should also note that, owing to a technical issue, the first page of the Military Museum section will appear for a few seconds and then the live version of the page will be displayed. Click the Web browser's Back button to return to the archived page.

B2141-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Military and Naval Affairs site produced on May 27, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the history, leadership, and mission of the division and the missions and facilities of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, New York Guard, and Naval Militia units. It also includes information about educational and other benefits for National Guard enlistees; benefits for families of enlistees; awards and decorations; and employment and contracting opportunities. It also includes copies of "Guard Times" magazine (2003-2006) and "Skibird" magazine (2007).

This copy also contains photographs, a commander's message, newsletters (2007-2008) and other information about the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, none of the links at the top of the pages concerning the 27th Brigade Combat Team work properly; however, the newsletters may be accessed by clicking on the "Keeping Tabs 16" link in the "Latest News" section of the first page relating to the brigade. Visitor information and online exhibits, unit histories, research resources, and other materials created by the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center are also present.

B2141-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Military and Naval Affairs site produced on December 20, 2010 shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office.

This accretion also includes a copy of the division's Twitter page and YouTube Channel web sites from January 2011.
