Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the Power Authority of the State of New York. Researchers should note that the main Power Authority site was not captured in 2008 or in 2014.

B2157-07: This accretion contains a copy of the main Power Authority of the State of New York site produced on April 11, 2007, after Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the authority's history and mission, press releases (2001-2007), newsletters (2001-2007), annual reports (2002-2006), budget reports (2005-2006), bondholder information (1991-2007), and Mohawk Valley, North Country, Blenheim-Gilboa Valley, and Western New York (2002-2007) regional newsletters. Also included are a calendar of events (2007), employment opportunities (2007), a list of authority-operated hydropower and fossil-fueled facilities throughout the state, procurement guidelines (2005), and a map of municipal and cooperative energy service customers (2007). Information about employment opportunities (2007); the Power for Jobs program and other economic development initiatives; emerging technology programs focusing on fuel cells and microturbines; and green energy and clean fuel is also present.

Researchers should note that owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, portions of this site were not copied properly. In addition, this copy includes a text-only version of the site in Spanish.

This accretion also includes a December 26, 2006 copy of the authority's St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project site. This copy includes an overview of the project, information about its 50-year relicensing (2003), a project land management plan (2004), and information about the Adjoining Landowner Stabilization Program (2005).

B2157-08: This accretion consists of copies of two Power Authority of the State of New York sites produced on May 7, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). Most of the information contained within the May 7, 2008 copy of the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project site is also present in the December 26, 2006 copy of the site. The Niagara Power Project site contains press releases (2007) and an overview of the project. It also includes a section on the project's 50-year relicensing (2007) featuring copies of forms sent to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, settlements with the Tuscarora Nation and other stakeholders, information and application forms for the Tuscarora Nation scholarship created as a result of the Tuscarora Nation settlement (2008), and a feasibility study of the restoration of native plants (2008).

B2157-10: This accretion contains a copy of the main Power Authority of the State of New York site produced on December 23, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains background information about the authority and additional press releases (2001-2010), newsletters (2001-2010), annual reports (2002-2009), budget reports (2008-2009), bondholder information (2002-2008), and Mohawk Valley, North Country, Blenheim-Gilboa Valley, and Western New York (2007, 2010) regional newsletters. Also included are an updated calendar of events (2010), employment opportunities (2010), procurement guidelines, and bylaws, and a map of municipal and cooperative energy service customers (2010). Information about the Power for Jobs program and other economic development initiatives, emerging technology programs focusing on fuel cells and microturbines, and green energy and clean fuel is also present.

This accretion also includes December 22, 2010 copies of the authority's St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project site and Niagara Power Project sites. Most of the information found within this copy of the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project site is also included in previous copies of the site. The Niagara Power Project site contains additional press releases (2007-2009), notices and materials from public meetings regarding various improvement projects (2010), and meeting agendas and minutes of the Ecological Standing Committee (2007-2010). Researchers should note that the St. Lawrence-Franklin Delano Roosevelt Power Project site was removed from the live web at some point after this copy was produced. The Niagara Power Project site remained on the live web until late 2019, but the site was not updated after this copy was produced. Some of the information formerly found within these sites was integrated into the main Power Authority website.

B2157-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the main Power Authority of the State of New York site produced on March 2, 2020, during the third term of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. It contains background information about the authority; the bylaws and policies governing its operations; meeting agendas and minutes (2014-2019) of the authority's Board of Trustees, Audit Committee, and Governance Committee; and meeting agendas and minutes (2014-2019) of the Economic Development Power Allocation Board, Northern New York Power Proceeds Allocation Board, and Western New York Power Proceeds Allocation Board.

Also present are meeting agendas and minutes (2017-2019) of the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and Governance Committee of the New York State Canal Corporation, which was placed under the control of the Power Authority on January 1, 2017. From 2018 onward, the Canal Corporation's board and committees met jointly with their Power Authority counterparts and the agendas and minutes reflect this fact.

This copy also contains the authority's budget and financial plans (2018-2022) and a wide array of financial reports (2016-2018). Information relating to the authority's operations focuses on the state's electric power infrastructure; its research and development initiatives; and its large Niagara, St. Lawrence, and Blenheim-Gilboa power projects and smaller power generation facilities. The copy also includes information on the authority's major statewide projects: BuildSmart (energy efficiency in state government buildings), ChargeNY (installation of electric vehicle charging stations), EVolveNY (rapid electric vehicle charging capability), Five Cities Energy Program (energy plans for the state's five largest cities), K-Solar (cost-effective solar power for schools), and ReChargeNY (low-cost power for qualifying businesses and non-profit organizations). Also included are studies and other materials relating to the St. Lawrence River Research and Education Fund (2008-2016) and information about the authority's visitor centers, recreational facilities, and community engagement projects.
