Administrative History
Senator Mary Lou Rath was elected to the Senate in 1993 while serving as a member of the Erie County Legislature (1978-1993). A Republican, she represented the state's 61st Senate District, which consists of parts of Erie County and all of Genesee County. She chaired the following standing committees: Tourism, Recreation and Sports Development; Children and Families; and Local Government. In 2007, she was appointed to the post of Deputy Majority Leader for State/Federal Relations, making her the only woman in the Senate Republican leadership at that time. She retired in 2008.

B2250-06: This accretion consists of an archival copy of Senator Rath's official website produced on December 22, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; monthly "Bee" columns that Senator Rath authored (2001-2006); and press releases (2000-2006) concerning legislation that Senator Rath sponsored, regional health care facilities, area tourism programs, and other matters of interest to Senator Rath's constituents. Also included is a joint Senate Committee on Tourism, Recreation, and Sports Development and Assembly Committee on Tourism, the Arts, and Sports Development report, "Connecting the Pieces: Joint Report on the 2005 Statewide Tourism Roundtables."
B2250-08: This accretion consists of a copy of Senator Rath's official website produced on June 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; monthly "Bee" columns that Senator Rath authored (2001-2008); and press releases (2008) concerning legislative efforts to enhance veterans' benefits, outlaw staged Internet violence, and other matters of interest to Senator Rath's constituents.
