Administrative History

Senator James W. Wright, a Republican, was first elected to the Senate in 1992. He represented the 46th Senate District (1993-2002) and the 48th Senate District, which consists of Jefferson and Oswego Counties and northwestern St. Lawrence County. He chaired the Standing Committee on Energy and Telecommunications and a bipartisan task force that studied introduction of new technology into the legislative process. He retired from the Senate in 2008 and in 2009 was appointed executive director of the Development Authority of the North Country.
