Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a January 27, 2011 copy of the publicly accessible website of the Holocaust Claims Processing Office, which was part of the Banking Department at the time it was captured. It contains information about the history and mission of the office, which helps survivors and heirs recover assets lost during the Holocaust, press releases (1977-2010), and Holocaust Claims Processing Reports (2006-2009). A list of organizations that may be of use to individuals researching or filing claims, information about employment opportunities, a frequently asked questions section, and forms for art, bank, and insurance claims are also included.
Researchers should note that this site, which seems to have existed since 2007 or 2008, was not captured prior to early 2011. Researchers should also note that this site was removed from the live Web sometime after it was copied. Its content was integrated into the main websites of the New York State Banking Department and its successor agency, the New York State Department of Financial Services.
