Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the Governor's Office of Taxpayer Accountability. Reaearchers should note that these sites were removed from the live Web shortly after Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office.

B2279-10: This accretion contains a copy of the main Governor's Office of Taxpayer Accountability site that was produced on February 25, 2010, during the administration of Governor David A. Paterson. It contains information about potential cost saving measures for state agencies, including suggestions for eliminating waste, fraud and abuse, sharing services among state government entities, including shared purchasing and merging operations of different entities. Information about savings for local governments and a quarterly update in savings (2010) are also present.

Researchers should note that the home page of this copy contains a file that may prompt a security warning in some browsers.

This accretion also includes a March 12, 2010 copy of the office's Twitter feed, which contains news items relating to the office. Owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information in this feed could not be captured properly.

B2279-10A: This accretion contains a copy of the main Governor's Office of Taxpayer Accountability that was created on December 22, 2010, several days before before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. Most of the information contained within it is also present in the February 25, 2010 copy. Researchers should note that the home page of this copy contains a file that may prompt a security warning in some browsers.

This accretion also includes a December 23, 2010 copy of the office's Straight Talk from Taxpayer site, which enabled individual taxpayers to post suggestions for cutting costs in state government, and a December 28, 2010 copy of its Straight Talk, Straight Answers website, which contains the office's responses to taxpayers' suggestions. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live pages and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the content contained within the former site could not be captured properly. A December 29, 2010 copy of the office's Twitter feed, which contains news items relating to the office, is also included. Owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information in this feed could not be captured properly.
