Administrative History

Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) created this task force in June 2009 (Executive Order 23) to examine police-on-police confrontations and shootings and to recommend strategies for preventing future incidents. The task force focused specifically on altercations between on- and off-duty officers, uniformed and undercover officers, and officers of different races, ethnicities, and nationalities.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of an archival copy of the publicly accessible website of the Police-on-Police Shootings Task Force produced on December 24, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the history and mission of the task force, a list of task force members, press releases (2009), and records of public hearings concerning accidental shootings. Researchers should note that the task force's final report was published on the website maintained by the Office of the Governor and is not included in this copy.

Researchers should also note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the "Law Enforcement Survey" could not be captured.

This site was removed from the live Web shortly after it was captured.
