Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the Erie Canal Development Corporation.

B2287-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Erie Canal Development Corporation site produced on December 17, 2010 shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the Canal Side redevelopment project, including project goals, proposals, plans, designs, public comments, and staff responses to public comments (November 2010). Information concerning a proposed solar-powered carousel, proposed redevelopment of the Buffalo Skyway, and the Cobblestone Automobile Museum can be found among the comments. Also present are historical drawings of and proposed redevelopment plans for the Buffalo Canal Side area and public comments gathered at the November 2010 Citizen Waterfront Forum sponsored by the mayor of Buffalo. Press releases (2009-2010), an Erie Canal Harbor brochure, and a summer event guide (2010) are also included.

Researchers should note that, owing to the site's structure and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the navigational menu links at the top left of the home page do not work properly.

B2287-15: This accretion consists of a copy of the Erie Canal Development Corporation Web site produced on March 3, 2015, shortly after Governor Andrew Cuomo (2011- ) completed his first term of office. It contains press releases (2013-2014), the board of directors' tentative meeting schedule (2015), and reports and meeting materials (2014) concerning the Buffalo Outer Harbor. Also present is information about the Erie Canal task groups established in 2011, including group listings, a summer plan listing (2011), and a Buffalo Canal Side Cultural Master Plan report (2010).

Researchers should note that, owing to the site's structure and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the navigational menu links at the top left of the home page do not work properly. As a result, much of the site could not be captured.

Researchers should also note that some time after this site was copied in 2015, it was removed from the live Web. Its content was incorporated into the main Empire State Development Corporation website.

Also included in this accretion is a snapshot of the Erie Canal Development Corporation's Twitter feed (copied March 12, 2015) which contains information about news and events related to the corporation. Researchers should note that, owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology and the structure of the live page, most of its content could not be captured properly.
