Administrative History
Nylink was a State University of New York (SUNY) entity that provided cataloging and other services to libraries, archives, and other cultural heritage institutions in New York State. It was established in 1973 as the SUNY/OCLC Network, changed its name to Nylink in 1999, and announced in May 2010 that it would gradually phase out its services and cease operations in May 2011.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a copy of the Nylink site produced on December 17, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the organization's history, mission, advisory board, and member organizations; scheduled education classes and events; publications (1999-2009) concerning member activities, networking, and technical support; and the organization's Status Line blog (2010). Also included is a list of technical, land delivery, reference, and other services provided by Nylink and its partner organizations. Information about alternative providers of Nylink services and products is also included.
