Summary:
This series consists of studies of undertaken to determine the impact on cultural and/or historical resources of proposed Department of Transportation projects. The Department of Transportation's Environmental Analysis Bureau enters into contracts with the New York State Museum, which conducts some of the studies itself and sub-contracts others to State University of New York academic departments and/or private contractors.

Administrative History

The Environmental Analysis Bureau is part of the New York State Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering, and advises the agency on the proper treatment of environmental resources which are potentially endangered by the department in the course of maintaining the state's transportation services.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of studies of how cultural and/or historical resources will be impacted by proposed Department of Transportation projects. The Environmental Analysis Bureau contracts the performance of these studies to the State Museum, which conducts some of the studies itself, or sub-contracts the studies to SUNY academic departments and/or private contractors.
