Overview of the Records

Administrative History

The Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption was created by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in July 2013 in accordance with the state's Moreland Act. It was charged with investigating potential violations of state laws relating to elections, political campaigning, and political fundraising. The commission was disbanded in March 2014 following the incorporation of several ethics reforms into the 2014-2015 state budget.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the Commission to Investigate Public Corruption.

B2486-14: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission to Investigate Public Corruption site produced on March 5, 2014, shortly after the commission was disbanded. It contains information about the commission's members, special advisors, and executive staff; press releases (2012-2014); and the commission's December 2013 preliminary report. Researchers should note that owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology, the public hearing videos could not be captured properly in 2014.

B2486-19: This accretion consists of a copy of the Commission to Investigate Public Corruption site produced on December 27, 2019. This copy contains all of the textual information found within in the March 5, 2014 copy and two of the three public hearing videos that could not be captured in 2014.

Custodial History

The New York State Archives used Web archiving software to copy these Web sites in order to preserve the information they contain.
