Scope and Content Note

These files document boxing and wrestling events or shows conducted in New York. The files contain various documents concerning the particular events. Many of the records are fiscal and document attendance at the events and the State Athletic Commission's receipt of taxes based on tickets sold and other revenue sources. The event files also include summary sheets listing event participants and the results of their matches. For boxing events, the files include the judges' score cards. These cards show points awarded by the different judges for each round along with the judges' comments on the actions in each round. Additional records in these files include copies of participant contracts with event promoters, lists of venue personnel who received temporary permits to work at the events, temporary permits for boxers and wrestlers, and occasional correspondence between the Commission and the event promoters on any relevant issues.
