Scope and Content Note

This series contains subject files documenting canal administration, particularly in regard to the Ship Canal, Hudson River to the Great Lakes Waterway, and the Canalization of the Genesee River. Correspondence with the National Trailways system (pertaining to the application for membership of the state canal system) and the State Council on the Waterways appears, as well as canal traffic reports, Section 3 movable dam data, and a map of Region 3. Of particular note are "personnel histories" of key Division staff who served ca. 1920-1960. Files contain correspondence, studies, reports, drawings, and photographs.

These records were identified and transferred by principal engineer William Schollenberger of the New York State Canal Corporation in April 2014.
