Scope and Content Note

This series consists of reports documenting the policies and decisions made in response to the COVID-19 crisis by the New York State Board of Regents, the Interim Commissioner of Education, and the deputy commissioners of the State Education Department (SED). Reports document decisions regarding the status of the June 2020 Regents exams and Math and English Language Arts assessments; provision of food to low-income students in rural communities; and guidance on Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) funding and status of grants. Also included are temporary policies on professional licenses and certifications granted by SED as well as guidance to schools and pre-kindergarten programs for the 2020-2021 school year. Records consist of brief reports indicating the SED program area, deputy commissioner, Board of Regents affiliated member, issue, and status of that issue.
