In addition to his duties as chairman of the Assembly Committee on Environmental Conservation, Hinchey had assignments on the following standing committees (according to the 1981-1982 Red Book): Agriculture, Banks, Higher Education, Local Governments, and House Operations.
Scope and Content Note
These files were compiled by the staff of Assemblyman Maurice D. Hinchey, who was first elected to the Assembly in 1974 as a Democrat from the 101st Assembly District (part of Ulster County). The files pertain to only those bills which Hinchey specifically sponsored or co-sponsored.
Each file usually contains multiple printed copies of the bill, memoranda in support of legislation, and an internal bill work sheet prepared by Hinchey's staff. Occasionally, the files may contain correspondence, reports, internal memoranda circulated within Hinchey's office, and newspaper clippings.
