Administrative History

The Board of Statutory Consolidation was established by the Laws of 1904, Chapter 664, with the purpose of carrying out a "revision, simplification, arrangement and consolidation of the statutes," the first since 1827-1829. The five members of the board were appointed by the act; one vacancy was later filled by the Governor. The consolidation of the laws was duly performed, adopted by the Legislature, and approved by the Governor. The result was the publication of the "Consolidated Laws of the State of New York,"; 9 volumes (Albany, 1910).
