Scope and Content Note

These journals are the official record of Assembly proceedings. The journal for each session summarizes floor proceedings, including bill introductions, committee assignments and reports, floor actions on bills, etc. The journals also contain texts of bill amendments from the Senate and of some resolutions. They do not contain debate transcripts or introduced documents. The Assembly Clerk compares a copy of the printed journal with the drafts, then identifies and corrects any errors in the printed copy, and adds a certificate that the volume is correct. The certified copy is considered the original journal; most Assembly journals distributed to legislative libraries are uncorrected versions that are first-use copies.
