Summary:
Harold L. Fisher, a delegate to the convention, served as chairman of the Committee on Economic Development. This series consists of administrative records of that committee, including meeting agendas, reports, statements, memoranda, drafts, and notes. The series also includes reports and propositions of other committees during the Convention; records relating to the development of Convention proposals; a complete set of final printed drafts of proposals; correspondence from special interest groups; and correspondence between the delegates at the Convention.

Administrative History

Harold L. Fisher was born on December 10, 1910. Fisher served as chairman of the Committee on Economic Development when he was a delegate to the New York State Constitutional Convention in 1967. A lawyer by profession, his political achievements included holding the positions of Assistant Counsel to the New York State Assembly Minority leader (1959-1965), and Counsel to the New York State Assembly Speaker (1965-1968). Fisher was also a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1960, 1976, and 1980.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of Harold L. Fisher's administrative records of the Committee on Economic Development, of which he was chair during the 1967 New York State Constitutional Convention. The series also includes reports and propositions of numerous other committees that were formed during the Convention. The records of the Committee on Economic Development include meeting agendas, reports, statements, memoranda, drafts, and notes.

This series also has records relating to the development of Convention proposals, and a complete set of final printed drafts of proposals 1 - 1395-B. This series also contains correspondence from special interest groups and correspondence between the delegates at the Convention.

Custodial History

These records were a gift to the Syracuse University Manuscripts and Special Collections Department by Harold L. Fisher in 1968. They were transferred to the New York State Archives in June 2006 and were accessioned in the summer of 2007.
